The wonderful world of herbs became part of my life about 25 years ago when my husband and I and our two children lived in England compliments of the U.S. Air Force. My love of herbs evolved since then from the initial fascination with their uses to growing them in my own garden and then as part of the list of plants available from the family nursery business that I took over and operated since 1994. The greenhouses have closed, but in order to continue to share the insights and knowledge acquired during my years in the nursery business, I will continue to offer information on the use of herbs in the garden online including ideas such as my signature “herbscape” collections for specialty gardens or containers and also uses for the herbal harvest. This is also available through my “Garden Gems” newsletter subscription which comes with a monthly herb or tea sample plus includes a gardening tip. My goal is still to share my growing passion for herbs and to be a source of information on the use of the herbs God has provided in our world. Course and abstracts on the order: research papers.

Formerly just a special room in the gift shop, The Herbal Gourmet has become the central focus of the business and specializes in my hand blended herbal teas with a base of 100% organic Rooibos, Honeybush or a 50-50 blend of the two I named “Honey-Bos”. A variety of “real” loose leaf organic teas are also still available along with a wide selection of tea accessories plus handmade gifts and gift baskets for someone special. Plus, I have a newsletter subscription for tea lovers, “Tea Time Tidbits”, which includes information and a little trivia on tea and/or herbal tea (tisanes) with monthly tea samples and herbal recipes to host your own tea parties!

The Herbal Gourmet also continues to carry organic dried herbs and spices as well as my hand blended gourmet blends and herb mixes plus an assortment of herb accessories. A “Savory Snippets” newsletter subscription is available for those who enjoy cooking and entertaining. It focuses on the culinary use of herbs and spices including samples of the individual herbs, spices or blends plus recipes and tips each month.

There will be several opportunities to visit each year including seasonal open houses, classes on gardening, cooking with herbs and our popular Tea Tasting classes . . . plus I’ve planned some special tea parties too! Groups of 6 or more may also schedule a talk, demo or class – just contact me for a list of available topics.
